Battalion Infantry GIST REGIMENT ARMY OF TENNESSEE.BORN WHIFIELD CO,Georgia. DIED GOSHEN, Washington CO,ARKANSAS 1920.WOUNDED AT LEAST TWICE IN SHOULDER AND HAND LOSING TWO FINGERS.
My great grandfather was Pvt Matthew Kay of company K from Gorden County Georgia. He was one of six brothers that served and the only brother to survive the civil war.
I have a correction My Great great grandfather Matthew G. Kay served in company B, his brothers that served were: Pvt. Emory Kay died in hospital 15 nov 1863, Jesse Jasper Kay died 17 Nov 1862 at Secessionville SC. Barnet V Kay died 15 july 1864 in Mississippi, William A. Kay died 7 Sept 1862 in Savannah Georgia, Elias H. Kay died june 1863 Newton Station Mississippi. Matthew lived until 1914 there is a memorial to them at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetary Gordon County Georgia. Just found out that Mahulda Kay, sister to the five Kay brothers killed in the Civil War is my 2nd great grandmother who was married to Seaborn Cooley. Would like to talk to you more about family history!

My great, great, great grandfather was Jesse Jasper Kay. His grandson was George Thomas Kay who was wounded and gassed in WWI. His great granddaughter was Eva Mae Kay who was my grandmother. I would enjoy learning more about our Kay lineage. Thank you!

All our folks were out of SC and later Georgia. Came out to AR after the war.
